The Committee to End Homelessness in Victoria stands in unity with all persons with lived experience of homelessness. We urge all agencies and housing authorities to include people with lived experience in their planning for new forms of housing and shelter. Only then can we as a City respond appropriately to the demand for the diverse housing options that people who are without housing require.
In particular, we trust the Judge will again listen carefully to the experiences of people at Tent City in coming to a decision concerning the injunction. Also that in planning the program for new housing/shelter at Central Baptist and for creating permanent and truly affordable housing options, the organizers include the voices of people living through homelessness. We believe that experts through lived experience of homelessness need to be central whenever decisions directly affecting them are made.
