Cheers were heard when attorney Catherine Boies-Parker and co-council Jasmine MacAdam entered the homeless camp, which calls itself INTENTCITY (Super InTent City), to announce the legal victory. BC Supreme Court Chief Justice Christopher Hinkson ruled against the BC government in its bid to remove the tent city campers through an interlocutory injunction. The encampment has been growing behind the courthouse since last fall when it became known that the courthouse lawn is not municipal property. Victoria City Police can’t roust homeless people there every morning as they had been doing in city parks. The judgement secures the existence of the tent city at least until September, when the province will seek a permanent injunction on September 7.
